Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) was endeavouring for unanimous local bodies' law in the country. A senior Punjab government official was on a trip to Sindh with the draft of the local bodies' law at present, said source. They said the concerned Punjab government official would make detailed discussion on the proposed law with Sindh government, including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leadership, before finalising it.

Sources said the purpose behind the visit of the Punjab government official was to evolve maximum consensus on the law in order to ensure popular support, before putting it in the provincial assembly. Meanwhile, PPP sources said that it is likely (for them) to form alliance with the PML-Q and Jamaat-i-Islami against PML-N in the upcoming local bodies elections.
